WEB STORE FAQs

There are two problems customers can have while using our online store. 

Either they

  • run into a security problem getting to the store or
  • they can't log into their user account.
Problems getting into the store:
Customers that report problems getting to our store usually are:
  • using Microsoft's Internet Explorer AND
  • are using our old address of www.assaytech.com. (Note ".com" instead of ".us".)

Our web address is www.assaytech.us.  Usually customers using the proper address report no problems no matter what browser they use. 

However, since some customers have our old address in their favorites, their browser will try to go to www.assaytech.com.  All browsers (Internet Explorer, FireFox, Chrome, etc) will be redirected to www.assaytech.us and that is what will show on the address bar.  This causes no problems except with Internet Explorer.

 

Customers that use Microsoft's Internet Explorer and use an address of www.assaytech.com  will be asked a security question by Internet Explorer when they go from our general website to the store.  The question is different depending if you are running version 7 or 8 of Internet Explorer.  For IE 7 you need to enter "Yes".  For IE 8, you need to answer "No". 

In IE 8, it will ask, "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?"  The answer to that question needs to be "NO".

In IE 7, it will ask, "Do you want to display the non secure items?"  The answer should be "YES".

If you answer incorrectly, IE will not show the web store pages.  It will only ask you once and will remember your answer.  So if you answer incorrectly, you will not get a second chance.  The only thing to do, is START UP ANOTHER SESSION of INTERNET EXPLORER. 

Your buying session will still be encrypted and safe.

Of course, the simplest solutions are to either
  • use any browser except Internet Explorer OR
  • change the address in your favorites to the ".us" address.

Problems logging into your account in the store.
 

If you create an account in our store, it will remember your address information for the next time, saving you time.

Returning customers sometimes run into problems in the checkout section of the store.  Instead of logging into their account, they proceed to enter all their information again.  The store will try to generate a new account and get stuck if the email address is the same as an existing account. 

Returning customers need to simply log into their account as directed.  DO NOT enter all your address information again.  After logging into your account, you can change the ship to or billing address as needed.

The checkout page has been revised recently to make this more clear.

If you do not wish to set up a new account, enter all your information, except the password, every time.  However, considering you are already giving us all your information for the order, not setting up an account does not do anything except make you enter your information again and again for future orders.  The only reason to have accounts on the store is for customer convenience.
