575 Design

The 575 sampler contains activated molecular sieves.  During sampling, the sieves trap the Nitrous Oxide.  At the lab, the samples are desorbed by transferring the sieves into a vial, adding water, and capping the vial.  The water will displace the nitrous oxide, which gathers in the headspace of the vial.  The headspace is analyzed by GC/ECD for the nitrous oxide.

The badge is not recommended to be used for IAQ monitoring. 

The use of Field Blanks is recommended for each sampling.

Recommended Sampling Time:

• Sample during time the gas is in use.

• Functional Range: 1 hour - 8 hours.

• Beginning with lot 2M10, the sampling rate is now 1.25 mL/min.  (2M10 was manufactured in February of 2010)
• Both sampling rates are listed on the website because many badges from older lots have not been returned for analysis yet.  Once these older lots have expired, the website will only show the new sampling rate.
• Return containers have been added to the sample handling procedure as an extra level of protection for the badges.

• Remove the badges from pouches immediately before sampling.  Just because the badge is shut, does not mean it will not be collecting Nitrous Oxide.
• Prior and after use, store these badges in a room that has no Nitrous Oxide
• After sampling, put each badge into a return container and put each return container into a return envelope provided and seal the envelope.  Do not put more than one badge in an envelop and definitely use the return containers and envelopes.
